TRAYECTORY OF THE COMPANY

Isabel Olavide created her own company in 1992. That same year she debut “Al Son del Aire” in the Galileo theatre in Madrid in “La Tribuna de la Danza” during the autumn festival.

The type of work Isabel Olavide´s company has aimed to achieve is a more theatrical flamenco, that is to say one which pays special attention to the staging elements and the overall aesthetic.

The performance are adapted from a theme which shapes the work. This is the case with the rhythm in “Al Son del Aire”, the text in “Flamenco y Palabra” or a base idea such as in “Dímelo tú Flamenco”. The aim is always to convey the feeling, the essence and a form “flamenca” which on its own has an intrinsical theatrical weight.

Isabel Olavide´s general interest for poetry specific to Spain and it´s flamenco culture has inspired the following performances “Flamenco y Palabra” and “Dímelo tú Flamenco”.

Having had the privilege of belonging to the company “Teatro de Arte Flamenco” and working along side relevant flamenco artist such as Tomas de Madrid, Juan Maya Marote and Chaquetón, has also been a great experience and source of inspiration.
This co
mpany produced the work “Guernica” which was based around Picasso´s great painting and recited poems by Miguel Hernandez and Federico Garcia Lorca.

At present “Dímelo tú Flamenco” is the most recent representation produced by Isabel Olavide and her company, its debut was in Salamanca (cultural capital 2002) in march 2002 which received acclaimed success.
